BREAKING: President Tinubu Appoints Professor Segun Aina as New JAMB Registra
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.
Professor Aina, a renowned Computer Engineering scholar and systems expert, becomes the youngest Registrar in JAMB’s history at the age of 40.
Aina holds degrees from the University of Kent and Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, with specialisations in Computer Systems Engineering, Internet Computing, Network Security, and Digital Signal Processing. He also attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
Currently a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Aina previously worked with JAMB during his National Youth Service, an experience that shaped his contributions to examination reform and digital systems optimisation.
With more than 15 years of experience spanning technology, public-sector reform, and institutional transformation, he has advised federal and state governments on digital transition and operational reforms.
He has also consulted for major examination bodies, including NECO and NABTEB, on ICT systems, examination integrity, and process automation.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Professor Aina would build on the achievements of outgoing Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, and further strengthen JAMB’s operations through innovation and institutional reforms.
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
