Key Requirements Candidates Must Put in Before Registration
As preparations continue for the forthcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, prospective candidates are advised to ensure that certain important requirements are properly arranged ahead of the registration period. Putting these in place early will help candidates avoid unnecessary delays, mistakes, or complications during registration.
1.Ensure You Have an Active and Registered Phone Number
Before you can register for JAMB, you are required to generate a JAMB profile code. This profile code is created by sending your National Identification Number (NIN) via SMS using a registered and active phone number to a shortcode provided by JAMB.
It is very important that the phone number used for this process belongs to you or is one you have constant access to. All official messages from JAMB, including confirmation messages, examination notifications, and other important updates, will be sent to this number. Using a personal phone number helps ensure that you do not miss any vital information.
2. Set Up a Valid Email Address
An email address is a mandatory requirement during JAMB registration and serves as an additional means of accessing your JAMB profile. In situations where you lose access to your registered phone number, your email address can help you recover important information related to your registration.
Candidates who do not already have an email address are strongly advised to create one before registration begins. Setting up an email address is free and only takes a few minutes. We recommend using Gmail, as it is reliable and can be easily accessed on both mobile devices and computers via gmail.com.
Ensure that the email address you provide is active and that you remember the login details, as it may be required for future admission-related activities.
3. Obtain Your National Identification Number (NIN)
The National Identification Number (NIN) remains a compulsory requirement for all UTME and Direct Entry candidates. Without a valid NIN, candidates will not be able to generate a JAMB profile code or proceed with registration.
Candidates who have not yet obtained their NIN should visit any approved National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrolment centre as soon as possible to complete their registration. Early registration is advised, as delays at enrolment centres may occur when the JAMB registration period draws closer.
By ensuring that these requirements are in place ahead of time, candidates can enjoy a smoother and stress-free JAMB registration process. Further guidelines and updates will be shared as registration activities progress.
